Update History.

13th March 2008 God I've been busy this week! The observant amongst you might spot the revamped front page, if not scroll down and all will be revealed! On the blog is a new Snowdonia Mountain Weekend Weather Forecast, which I'll endeavour to update weekly. However, I'll be counting the number of times it's read and will try and make it a permanent feature if it gets enough hits.

12th March 2008 More route maps added. Now all routes for 2007 and 2008 have a route map.

11th March 2008 Major site upgrade! Ok, bit of an overstatement but we have started adding Multimap maps to the routes and we're sure you'll agree it's a major step forward. So far, these routes have the maps; Aber to Llanbedr via Creigiau Eigiau, Yr Aran from Rhyd Ddu, Scrambling down Y Gribin, Moel Eilio and Yr Wyddfa and Rhinog Fawr with the rest of the walks to follow in logical order. Massive thanks go to Paul at Walking Highlands for the Code! This also sees the end of all the different file formats, so i'll be tidying those up and providing just the GPX files.

21st February 2008 A New route across the Glyderau, Scrambling down Y Gribin, is added to Routes.

28th January 2008 Want to enshrine your right to wild camp in Wales and England in law? Click here. New walk added finally. Moel Eilio and Yr Wyddfa. New routes are likely to start including walks in other areas this year as i'm otherwise going to find it difficult to keep up the level of content for the site.

3rd January 2008 Happy New Year! I've many walks planned this year, as i've been doing a lot of the same walks recently - that's why there's no new walks. Check the Blog out for a review of the new Nokia N82 phone with built in GPS and the Nokia Adventure Pack.

22nd November 2007 I've added a few more articles on the blog, but i've also set up Google Sponsored links. Click on them please, they help pay for the site's upkeep.

13th November 2007 Free downloadable Snowdon contour map now available. Walk Eryri 2008 printable calendar is also available here to download.

7th November 2007 FINALLY! The site has been updated. Four new routes have been added, and all routes now have GPS routes to download. A Marchllyn Horseshoe, Snowdon by the Ranger path, Crib Nantlle and Rhinog Fawr.See here for some news regarding GPS files. Gallery photos are to follow, but only 4 pages as the weather just hasn't been up to much.

2nd October 2007 Oh dear. I seem to have been a little remiss on updating the site in the last few months. Lots of things have been happening and i'm just getting the time now to finish updating the site. Some changes will take place to make updates easier, the main one being the support for .gpx GPS files only. I'll advise people how to convert these to a format they can use (though most programs will now import gpx files). By the way, if you've asked me for a reciprocal link or similar recently, please email me again as i've also suffered a major system crash!

23rd July 2007. New Easy route added, Anglesey Coast Path Malltraeth to Pen-Lon, and the Gallery is now fully up to date!

18th July 2007 4 new routes added; Rachub to Capelulo, Aber to Llanbedr, Moel Meirch Circuit and Cnicht and Allt Fawr Circuit. Text only at the moment.

13th June 2007 New Snowdon route added, South Ridge at Dusk and loads of Gallery images here and here.

6th June 2007 2 new routes. An easy one aound Llyn Padarn and a more challenging route, North Carneddau from Rachub.

3rd June 2007 Ok, i've been lax at updating recently. So i've just spent 8 hours getting it up to date! Loads of new photos in the Gallery and 3 more routes. Aran from Beddgelert, Carnedd Llewelyn via Llugwy and Y Garn from Nant Peris.

25th March. Notice that the Forums are no more! Thanks to all the Russian (among others) spammers who keep creating accounts. Instead, i've started a Blog as it seems you get no respect for writing a website these days, you've got to run a blog. If anyone wants some free space to write a Snowdonia or Walking blog, email me..

7th March 2007. Can't believe it's been a month since the last update! Here's a little article i've written about bothying in Snowdonia. Will have all routes up to date in the next forthnight.

8th February 2007 FINALLY! The update is here. Six new routes added, including South Ridge, Watkin Path, Moel Meirch and Nantlle Ridge. I will add the photos and GPS files as i get time, the pages are text only at the moment. The South ridge pics will be first up, as they show a beautiful inversion.

17th January 2007 Updates still to come, including another Tal Y Fan route and an announcement that the site will be working with a new sponsor.

5th January 2007 Happy New Year, and please be patient as i will be adding 6 more routes soon, but need to organise them. They include a wild camp in the Moelwynion, Moel Meirch, Nantlle Ridge and a Snowdon Inversion with some beautful pics.

11th December 2006 The website is 2 years old today! For the curious amongst you, birthday cackthere are about 1000 different visitors a month (i've used the lowest stats) on average this year, with the second half of the year seeing an increase to 1700 in August and an average of 1500 unique visitors a month! One update in the past mentioned that the site was 534th or something for a google search on"Walks in Snowdonia", it's now 3rd. So thanks to everyone who've exchanged links and to everyone who's visited in the last 2 years and made this project worthwhile. A Virtual piece of birthday cake to you all, and a wee dram of whatever you fancy.

2nd November 2006 Quick note to say that updates will now be secondary to other things (MA Thesis, job hunting and house renovations, oh what unadulturated joy!) for the rest of this year. If i do a walk, it will be put in here, but i'm not anticipating many walks now before Xmas. I'm off for a last wild camp this weekend (of a route already on site), and I failed to get walking yesterday (well, i did manage to salvage a stroll to Aber Falls) and today due to builder's dust getting in my throat! I will do one GUARANTEED update on the 11th December as the site is 2 years old then!

Logo Walk Eryri Mobile22nd October 2006 Walk Eryri Mobile site is ready for testing. You can download routes in GPX format for use with ViewRanger software on your phone. If you don't use that, then it's useful to download the mountain forecasts on the hill, or for checking the sunrise/sunset times for the day. Loads of gpx routes will be uploaded soon. Please check out the Help page before downloading though as the files have been zipped, they refuse to dowload to my phone otherwise.

Aqua 3 LogoSite Centred Maps from Aqua 3 - I've just got one for the Moelwynion, superb! Ok, they're not cheap, but they cost less than the equivelent from the OS, and they're laminated too.

14th October 2006 New Moelwyn walking and wild camping route. Carnedd Moel Siabod from Pen y Gwryd.

10th October 2006 New Moelwynion walking and wild camping route. Moelwynion and Cnicht from Croesor.

4th October 2006 Photos and GPS Files added to last two routes.

19th September 2006 New Glyderau route, Glyderau Traverse from Deiniolen to Capel Curig. No pictures or GPS files yet.

10th September 2006 New Carneddau Route, Ogwen to Aber via Drum Ridge. Pics will be added soon.

5th September 2006 Wondered how many 'mountains' there are in Wales? Well i've counted 117 and put them into a booklet for you to print and tick off. Available in the Articles section.

27th August 2006 Gallery is now FULLY updated! Some frosty images from Foel Fras last February and Nantlle Ridge. Also some from the Glyderau, Carneddau and Wyddfa. Aber wild camp, and about 200 photos added in total, bringing the total to over 500! Some rather unusual photos of the hills around Aber Falls added too. I don't think i have any more photos to put online! If you spot a route without big pics, then let me know.

24th August 2006 New Moewlynion walking route, Y Ro Wen and Moel Penamnen circuit from Dolwyddelan. Remarkably remote walk while still not too far from civilisation that covers rough and pathless terrain.

17th August 2006 New route index by start added. Routes are now on a new page by starting location to make it easier to pick a route.

16th August 2006 Photos and GPS Files added to new routes (phew).

15th August 2006 Moel Hebog route completed. Routes up Snowdon South Ridge and Cadair Idris added (no pics or GPS files on latter).

10th August 2006 New walking route up Moel Hebog, Moel yr Ogof and Moel Llefn. No route description yet, but GPS files and pictures are all up.

18th July 2006 Another route across the Carneddau, from Aber to Trefriw. Either a 2 day route or a day route diverting to Capel Curig. ML Blog updated..

9th July 2006 New Carneddau Route. Cwm Llafar Horseshoe, walking up Yr Elen, Carnedd Llewelyn and Dafydd.

4th July 2006 Walkeryri is now in partnership with Aqua 3 Maps, where you can get a 10% discount by entring via our link and free postage (we get a few pennies to help keep this site running too!). Some routes have a new format (Aran and Nantlle Circuit), with links to maps and other information such as starting location and parking. They are also classified from Easy to Extreme, explained at the bottom of this page. Waypoints for North Snowdonia are available to download in 4 different formats for uploading to your GPS.

3rd July 2006 New Eifionydd route. Nantlle Ridge circuit with return route to Rhyd Ddu.

23rd June 2006 New Snowdon route up Yr Aran from Rhyd Ddu. Pictures added to last route and ML Blog updated. Gallery format updated. There are now little thumbnails for each gallery page, still a lot o photos to be put on there.

18th June 2006 New Moelwynion Route around Dolwyddelan, over Moel Meirch and Ysgafell Wen and back to the start. ML Blog updated.

4th June 2006 New Moelwynion route from Beddgelert over Cnicht and to Dolwyddelan. Includes some pics of scrambler bike damage on the Moelwynion. ML Blog updated.

31st May 2006 New Carneddau route added. Foel Fras via Drum.

24th May 2006 Nowt new added, but the routes section has now been updated. There are pages for each area now, and a latest trip page (the standard routes page).

16th May 2006 New lightweight backpacking forum! Minor updates to the Lightweight articles.

14th May 2006 Finally another mountain route! Elidir Fawr and Y Garn from Nant Peris. Not much of a view, but a decent day's walking. Also updated the ML Blog, but not by much.

3rd May 2006 Sunrise and sunset times for Snowdon now added to articles. Well, i had the text file on my machine and thought it might be useful for others. It's on the site as a printable acrobat .pdf file, and prints on two sheets of A4 paper. I've also updated the ML blog, but nowt exciting.

22nd April 2006 A new easier route has been added. A moderate ramble from Caernarfon to Waunfawr along part of the Eryri Way known as Lon Gwyrfai. End the walk on a pint and a train back to your starting point. It also has a downloadable routecard in acrobat .pdf format.

18th April 2006 Hey, no updates for nearly a month! Sorry guys. Been busy. Normal service should resume in a fortnight or so! Damn work. Anyone got a spare winning lottery ticket please? And yes, i must be getting bored as i'm thinking of adding a video podcast to some routes. Probably won't happen as it's too bandwidth intensive and would take too much time. Mabye pick a fave route or two?? Hmm..... must get back to work, those books wont mark themselves.

21st March 2006 New easier route added, Ynys Llanddwyn with gallery. Gallery of photos added to Llyn Parc route too. I will be adding the larger format pictures for all routes as time allows.

10th March 2006 New Route added, Moel Eilio in Snow. Decided it's time to put photos in a larger format, and have decided to put all the photos related to one walk on one page. It will be slow to load on dial up, but that's life. Click here to see the photos.

1st March 2006 Please click on this link to sponsor an Everest expedition for charidee. I don't normally put this sort of thing on the site, but this case i think deserves it. The guy, Conan Harrod, was prevented from summiting last time as someone else who was trying to play golf at the highest altitude had an accident that nearly killed him. Read about it here and here. Then give him a couple of quid.

28th February 2006 New Easy walk added, Aber Falls Circuit.

21st February 2006 New Route added in the Carneddau, Pen Llithrig y Wrach and Pen yr Helgi Du from Capel Curig. Remote and quiet route on these Carneddau outliers. If you want a big day, then it's simple to tack the main Carneddau onto this route, in fact, it would seem a waste not to! Also updated the ML Log Blog.

12th February 2006 New Route added. Moel Ysgyfarnogod from Trawsfynydd.

31st January 2006 New routes added. Foel Fras from Aber and a Stroll around Llyn Parc. Plus a new Mountain Leader Blog to note my experiences on this, and an article on ML award by Paul Cummings who has just qualified.

25th January 2006 New routes added. Glyderau from Pen y Pass and a short walk around Llyn Dinas.

14th January 2006 New section added in Routes. Easy Walks in Snowdonia. As I am trying to encourage a friend into walking, I'll be adding many short routes here. To start with, there's the Aber Falls and Llyn Crafnant.

1st January 2006. Happy New Year (Except to the IDIOTS who nearly knocked the slates off my roof with rockets). So Happy New Year to everyone, except them...

17th December New route added, Tal Y Fan from Rowen. Plus the website was a year old last sunday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

13th November 2005 Lighweight backpacking added to Articles, 2 sections added so far. Amazon ads removed, homepage links modified, new sponsored links to Country Bookshop, GreatMagazines.co.uk and MISCO

29th October A repeat of an old walk, Bwlch Cwm Llan from Rhyd Ddu, with a brief trip report added, and I still haven't made it up Yr Aran. Next time, I'll get it, mark my words, I'll bag that summit.

27th October 2005. New walk, Carneddau from Ogwen to Aber, added to routes.

3rd September 2005 Stage 2a added to Llyn Coastal Path. Clynnog Fawr to Llanaelhaearn.

25th August 2005 Stage 1b added to Llyn Coastal Path. Updated the Stage 1a memorymap files to include waypoints now that i've worked out how to do so!

24th August 2005 New section added! Llyn Coastal Path is a new section in Routes devoted to this brand new local Long Distance Footpath. There's only Stage 1a at the moment, but this will be completed as i complete the route.

13th August 2005 Belated updates. New Nantlle Ridge route added. Various minor updates, such as distances and ascent added to route descriptions and route indexes.

18th July 2005 New walking route up Snowdon from Rhyd Ddu path and down via Pyg Track to Pen Y Pass.

14th June 2005 New walking and wild camping route around Moel Wnion added. More a gear test than serious route, but still, it could be used as a low level walk or as access to the Northern Carneddau.

5th June 2005 Links rearranged and some sponsored links and banners added. I will monitor these, but the aim is that the site becomes self funding through these. I hope to include direct links, where appropriate, to products that might be of interest. e.g. directly link to maps and guides in the routes section. HOWEVER, the site's aims remain the same, and any sponsorship will be minimal and unintrusive, with perhaps a banner on each page, and a map/guide suggestion on each route. If there is no overall benefit, I'll remove them. And, yes, the animated banners are a little annoying but I haven't worked out how to download the still ones yet! Reciprocal link added to Trekking Britain on the left.

27th May 2005 Update to Site Layout. New Articles Section. Forum now on Navigational bar. News in Articles Section.

23rd May 2005 Bwlch Cwm Llan walk in the shadow of Snowdon. Reciprocal links added to BBC North West Wales, Paramo, Plas y Brenin and StridingEdge.net. Page ranked as 500 for 'walking snowdonia'. I think i've got a bit of work to do, don't you?? Click here to see it on Google.

15th May 2005 New walking route Sygyn Revisited . A variation on last week's walk..

13th May 2005 General page layout tidied up. Pages now tighter, less wasted space, easier to use?? You tell me.

11th May 2005 Routes now universally available in both Memorymap and Trackogs format. Due to conversions, MM files contain routes only, and no extra information. Will try to convert to Anquet and perhaps a GPS friendly file too (don't know exactly which format, and i want a batch processor too)

8th May 2005 New Route - Mynydd Sygyn, and various minor changes. Site joined webring too.

10th April 2005 New route - Creigiau Gleision and images.

6th April 2005. Gallery Updated with Mynydd Mawr images (finally)

29th March 2005. New Links Section on Eryri Long Distance Footpaths.

27th March 2005 New map index in routes, shows the area covered by this website. Website background colour lightened up due to some readers experiencing difficulties reading. Any comments on new colour in forum.

22nd March 2005. New Domain walkeryri.org.uk, old site no longer updated. Forum added.

5th March, 2005. New route, up Mynydd Mawr, pics to follow. Promise!

27th Feb, 2005. New route, up Cefn Du and a few more pictures in the Gallery. Pictures placed inside routes. Most with links to gallery pages.

20th Feb, 2005. Doh! Just reaslied that the useful Links on the Right have now deleted the images from all my routes! Will update all the routes in the next few weeks to include these pics.

18th Feb, 2005. Major update. Links placed either side of page, for all pages. Usenet uk.rec.walking link and information added. Probably some other stuff too, but I can't remember.

February 17, 2005. Gallery button above now active. May replace gallery to right? Or leave right for newest or best images.

February 16 , 2005. New route, Tal y Fan added to Routes. Index picture changed.

February 06, 2005, 12:32. Update history moved to this page, index page looks bare now.

January 23, 2005, 22:24. And all is well. (Prob no more updates till i finally manage to get to the hills again!)

January 12, 2005 17:30 Well, no action on the hills at the min. Just coming over a chest infection. But i have added route maps to the Eilio and Elidir routes.

January 03, 2005 20:42. Belated Happy New Year. No walking, too ill. :-((

December 18, 2004 11:26 Update. Extra link added to Llyn Crafnant and Geirionydd about the Cymdeithas Eryri (Snowdonia Society) who were restoring the footpath mentioned on the page. Also added Tracklogs routes to the routes, as it is my preferred mapping software. Disclaimer and warning added to Routes pages.

December 18, 2004 00:04 Update. Changed newest history to appear on top, more logical. Added a route description for Llyn Crafnant and Geirionydd. Oh yes, and the new camera has arrived and I must say, it takes some decent pics. None of interest to this site, yet. Hopefully next week i can get a day or two in. PLEASE!

December 16, 2004 18:21 Update Few little bugs fixed. Navigation and Email Graphic now available (i hope), and files for marchlyn mawr MemoryMap now correct version (only couple of k, not 224!). Oh yes, and a decent digital camera is coming my way from Santa, i was using this Kodak camera. C'mon, It was a freebie and it did take the shots on this page, which I think are OK. Also picture on page moved up to accommodate increasing amount of waffly updates. Also, thanks to V-G of the website of same name to the left, they have linked to me so my site may soon be available on search engines, so i'll be less likely to be talking to myself in here. It looks like the About page may start accommodating this Update section as soon as i reach the bottom of the links on the left! Which is pretty near. I am also looking at transferring the site in the new year to my own webspace that i currently use for School (www.daearyddiaeth.org.uk - hopefully google will pick this up finally! ) , and adding it as a new domain, i have plenty of slack on that account so i best use it.

December 12, 2004 17:44 Update Route up Moel Eilio added to Routes. God, i must be bored today, especially seeing as i'm writing update reports to a website that nobody will be visiting yet! Link to EryriNPA added to Useful Links. Other links likely to go to links pages only. I have a ton of them waiting to be sorted out to go on that page.

December 12, 2004 15:04 Update. Most of the Navigation now works. There is a route in routes, other pages simply empty at the moment. Added a link to Gwynedd bus timetables on the main frame to LEFT. Oh yes, and a bit of a rant about mountain lists in other... And i forgot, just increased font size in Useful links, hopefully its readable now.

December 11, 2004 18:18 Site online! NOTE! IT IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION! The navigation above is not yet functional!

Like the site? Digg it!
