Llyn Coastal Path.(Plus Eryri Way)

This is Eryri's newst waymarked trail, and Gwynedd Council have provided a highly informative website on the path. You can download .pdf files with OS maps of the route, allowing you to easily plan your route. The OS maps are slightly stylised, meaning you will need proper maps however. The funny thing about the trail is that it's one I've wanted to walk for years, and I have a tracklogs file I planned to do this summer that is very similar in it's route. That said, there is not that much option on varying the route hugely. Below you will find links to each of the stages of the route. All the stages are listed, but it is a work in progress, hopefully finishing it next Easter.

The Eryri Way is an extention to the Llyn path that i have been working on for a number of years, a path that starts in Caernarfon, follows the peninsula down and the mountains back. As the peninsula now has its own trail, it's easier and more logical to propse the Caernarfonshire Way as an extention to this, thus forming a circular route of about 260km. If you are interested in this, email me.

Menai Strait

Stage 1a Caernarfon to Groeslon (11.5 km)

This is an easy start to the route, with a bit of coast, a bit of farmland and a pub at the end of it. No ascent here, mabye 50metres in total?

Stage 1b Groeslon to Clynnog (11.5km)

This route starts along the Lon Eifion Track, at the Tafarn Pennionnyn Pub and ends at Clynnog. It is the inland version, and does not visit the beach at Pontllyfni, a route that avoids the tricky part of this route.

Stage 2a Clynnog to Llanaelhaearn (11km)

Your second day takes you over Bwlch Mawr and Gyrn Ddu, affording views of Snowdonia and down the peninsula.

Stage 2b Llanaelhaearn to Nefyn (16km)

Yet more hills, this time Yr Eifl, with it's views and iron age fort. The route continues through Nant Gwrtheyrn and finally on to the village of Nefyn.

Pebbles on a Beach

Stage 3 Nefyn to Llangwnnadl (19km)

Beach Huts Stage 4 Llangwnnadl to Plas yn Rhiw (28km)
Llanbedrog Stage 5 Plas yn Rhiw to Llanbedrog (28.5km)
Tafarn Y Plu

Stage 6 Llanbedrog to Llanystumdwy. (23km)

Another route that ends at a pub!

Glaslyn Pass

Stage 7a Llanystumdwy to Porthmadog (13km)

Extending then to complete a circuit to Caernarfon creating an Eryri Way Trail, watch this space!

Eryri Way (will soon have own site)

Beddgelert

Stage 7b Porthmadog to Beddgelert (14km)

Llyn Dinas

Stage 8 Beddgelert to Capel Curig (29km).
